    Come and enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of a real hometown carnival! The 13th Annual OLG Funfest, Sunday, June 3rd from 11am to 6pm, is a treat for all with attractions for the whole family. These include bounce houses, pony rides, face-painting, games for all ages, a tricky tray, a 50/50 raffle, vendors selling arts and crafts plus a book sale. Food, spirits, music and games of chance are presented in a biergarten-setting.

    We are adding special attractions this year to make this one of the BEST festival in Northern NJ! One hint is we're having an artist painting characters but tune into the website for more surprises!

    ***** The OLG Nitefest and 2nd Annual Cornhole Tournament ****

    For music and dancing under the stars - with a little competition, come to the OLG Nitefest & 2nd Annual Cornhole Tournament, Saturday, June 2nd from 6pm to 11pm. As with a traditional bier-garten, The Thirsty Monk will be serving up spirits and games of chance with music.

    A special attraction this year is a magician who will dazzle the entire family.

    The Nitefest is held rain or shine as there are canopies to protect against the elements. The Cornhole Competition is held indoors. Visit the website for up-to-date information and Cornhole registration.

  • Hoboken Secret Gardens Tour, Sunday, June 3rd

    Hoboken Secret Gardens Tour

    This year, the Annual Hoboken Secret Gardens Tour, on Sunday, June 3, will feature up to 10 private gardens graciously opened to visitors by Museum supporters to help raise funds for our programs. Rain date is June 10.

    Every year, the tour offers a fresh selection of traditional and contemporary gardens created by professional landscape designers and dedicated gardening enthusiasts, many of whom will be on site to answer your questions. 

    This year, the tour is self-guided! Visit the gardens at your own pace, but be sure to allow at least 2 to 2.5 hours to visit them all. Pick up the tour booklet on the day of the tour from the Museum between 9 a.m. and when the gardens close at 4 p.m. 

    A map and detailed description of each  garden will be included in the full-color tour book. It will also offer suggestions of local restaurants for brunch, lunch or tea! Garden owners, Hoboken Garden Club members and Museum volunteers will greet you at each of the homes. Tickets are $25 in advance, $35 on the day of the tour. (Museum members pay $25 on the day of the tour, and children under 13 may accompany parents or guardians for free.)

  • Ben & Jerry’s 2018 School Spirit Event for Hoboken Bike Camp

    Celebrate your school spirit and win a chance for an ice cream party for the whole school when you join Hoboken Family Alliance at our School Spirit Event at Ben & Jerry’s, Hoboken, N.J., on Thursday, May 17. 

    The school that comes out to buy ice cream, creates a new ice cream combination in The Flavor Contest and/or submits entries into the Ice-Cream Art competition will qualify to win an End of School Ice Cream Party for the entire school, courtesy of Ben & Jerry's.

    The benefit night helps HFA generate awareness and recruit volunteers for the Hoboken Bike Camp, June 25-June 29. Ben & Jerry’s, a founding sponsor for the Bike Camp, which is in its 8th year, will donate a percentage of sales from School Spirit Night to the camp. Each summer Hoboken Bike Camp teaches individuals with disabilities to ride a two-wheel bike with the help of two professionals and a team of more than 50 volunteers.

    The event will feature giveaways and raffles. Schools earn points by:

    • Coming out to buy ice-cream on May17 ANYTIME throughout the event (one point for each purchase)

    • Entering a unique flavor combo in The Flavor Contest (one point for each submission)

    • Showing in words, picture or paintings what makes ice-cream so good, starting May 10. Entries should be posted on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/HobokenFamily?ref=hl (two points for each submission)

    Contest submissions are allowable through 11 PM EST on May 16 to count toward a school's total points. Points are accrued based on a ratings system that includes contest engagement and creativity and turnout on May 17 as a percentage of school population. Winners will be determined by the HFA board.   • Spaces are available for the World Peace Game Summer Camp at the Hudson School

    The World Peace Game is a hands-on political science simulation. Four countries are pitted against each other as middle schoolers take on the roles of prime ministers, cabinet members, UN officials, World Bank members, arms dealers and more. The object is to achieve world peace and global prosperity by challenging students with 50 interlocking crises such as hurricanes, oil spills, refugee asylum, food shortages, while under the threat of war.

     Students will learn

    • systems thinking,
    • creative problem solving, 
    • negotiation skills, 
    • leadership responsibilities,
    • decision making skills,
    • critical thinking,
    • the art of compromise,
    • collaboration skills,
    • conflict resolution,
    • communication skills
    • and much more.

    Please join us for this inclusive and sensory sensitive performance of the hit comedy.

    This performance has been modified to include children with sensory needs!

    Some of the modifications include:

    • Stage and house lighting adjustments:
    • Not completely turning house lights off during a show and no flashing lights.
    • Allowing dietary restricted children to bring along snacks where they might otherwise be prohibited.
    • Allowances to moving around and re-entrance when needed.
    • Having lower volume for music and sound effects.
