Lakeview Day Camp (updated 2013)
505 Riva Ave
East Brunswick, NJ

Lakeview Day Camp sits on 20 beautiful acres along the shores of Farrington Lake. 2013 marks our 75th summer of serving campers with life changing summer experiences. Campers from age 3-14 have facilities and programs catered to their age group.

Camp begins with a nurturing program designed with budding young campers in mind. In 2nd grade we introduce elective programs and the discovery begins. By 5th grade the elective programs help frame the majority of a camper’s experience where challenge and confidence are cultivated. The teen programs travel for day trips once each week and take two extended overnight trips each summer.

LakeView is the perfect combination of everything in day camping. Our facilities have the benefit of a sleep camp feel because that is how we started back in 1939 and our setting along side Farrington Lake has to be seen to really be appreciated. Dynamic programs offer specialized instructions from properly trained adult staff while our counselors and division leaders help to cater each campers experience to their specific needs. LakeView promotes fun and adventure but at the core of everything we do is the history and tradition of making our camp family feel like a community where friends are made and always welcome back.

View Schedule

i2 Camp began at two world-class learning locations, the Chapin School in New York City, and the Roxbury Latin School in West Roxbury, Massachusetts. Both of these schools have helped in the development of i2 Camp, including the development of the program and curriculum. We are excited to have since added a third location at Liberty Science Center in Jersey City, NJ. All of these institutions have provided facilities and many of our instructors, and, in fact, the camp director at each of these locations is a year-round teacher or director at his or her respective institution.

Each of our locations has state-of-the-art science laboratories and classrooms that will be used throughout the summer by i2 Camp. In addition, there are large meeting halls for camp-wide activities, play areas and fields for physical activities and cafeterias for a lunch which is served every day.

The art teacher presents a variety of art mediums and forms in the daily classes.

The dance/movement/theater teachers teach a combination of creative movement, dance, yoga, theater games, eurhythmics, movement stories and dramatic play.

Included in our activities are singing and song writing, storytelling, writing stories, poems and plays, illustrating stories and poems, presenting plays and dance pieces as well as weaving and jewelry making.

Throughout the day, as teachers we encourage creativity, exploration, and individuality as well as group cooperation.

Instrumental in our work are our teen assistants. Each teacher is provided with assistants according to the age and size of the group.  This insures all students receive individual assistance and attention during classes and in transition to other activities.

All our teens show a special joy and interest in working with children and have experience spending time with our age range of children. Many of them attended our camp as 3-12 year old children and have returned to work with us.

At Waterfront Montessori we believe that children never stop learning and that, if you provide them with an environment in which learning and play are indistinguishable, they continue to learn and grow no matter what the time of year.

Our Summer Program is designed for fun with a purpose. It provides children with an exceptional opportunity to play and learn, both indoors and outdoors, and through academic and arts enrichment as well as physical activity.

Children need an opportunity to discover all of their gifts, and we have created a program to give them that chance.

For two year old children, the Toddler Summer Program follows the routine and schedule that the Toddler program follows during the regular school year. The curriculum includes music, language and outdoor play.

For children age three through five, the first three weeks of the summer camp will be a Montessori academic immersion program, including our usual offerings of music and art, with the addition of daily sports activities.

For older children, and for all of our campers for the last four weeks of camp, we continue our summer tradition of a series of weekly intensives to accompany our sports, arts and academic activities, and will once again bring in extraordinary teachers and coaches to lead them.

Internationally recognized martial arts coach Shihan Austin Wright will teach Karate. Jazz recording artist and director of the New York Childrenʼs Jazz Choir, Louise Rogers, will teach jazz voice for children. Former pro and world record holder for keeping a soccer ball aloft, Abuto King Nyanjong, will coach soccer. Music Director Cristina Weisman will keep them singing. Our AfterSchool Music Staff will introduce them to the piano and the violin. For the fours and over, we will offer tennis and our beloved Coach Bobby will teach Chess.

No matter what the activity, the emphasis will be on fun. And, as long as the children are having fun, the learning will take place.
