Please join us at our Spring Fling Egg Hunt.

This is our 18th year hosting this annual fun event.
    Time: Saturday, April 8 2017 (raindate April 9, 2017) 10 am-12 pm.
Location: Columbus Park, Clinton Street, between 9th & 10th Streets, Hoboken.
Cost: Free for HFA members; $5 suggested donation for non-members.

Activities include: A stroll through the Spring Farm Egg Hunt (Find eggs and turn them in for a bag of goodies!); Bunny-hop and egg races.

The egg hunts will be continuous, starting at 10 am, and children will trade their found (empty) eggs for a bag of goodies to take home, so that we can reuse and recycle the eggs for other participants.

Please note that groups of children of all ages will be able to enter the Spring Farm for 15-minute intervals and re-enter. The entrance time for the last egg hunt will be at 12pm. Plan to pose with bunnies and spring themed props, courtesy of Hoboken High School art department. Please bring your cameras and baskets!

  • Get Ready to Ride with the Hoboken Bike Camp for Disabled Youths

The Hoboken Family Alliance will host the 6th Annual Hoboken Bike Camp June 26-June 30, 2017 to teach individuals with disabilities to ride a two-wheel bicycle independently. This life-changing program fosters inclusion, acceptance and independence, two wheels at a time.

Operated in conjunction with iCanBike, a national, not-for-profit organization that has conducted hundreds of camps over the past decade, and the City of Hoboken, the camp uses a proven protocol with an 80% success rate. Because of specially adapted bikes that use a roller instead of a rear wheel, participants become more balanced and comfortable in an accelerated time period. An on-site bike technician and floor supervisor help advance throughout a series of levels and within five days they are riding independently.

Hoboken was the first city in New Jersey to host a camp in 2012 and four other N.J. cities have since followed. The camp is open to cognitively disabled individuals, 8-years-old and older and runs June 26-June 30 in 2017 at the Hoboken High School.

The camp brings together the community through special events and fundraising but primarily through the volunteer efforts of more than 50 individuals who are the foundation for helping participants achieve success in the camp.

The Hoboken Family Alliance is a registered 501 (3) (c) organization that was founded more than 10 years ago and supports Hoboken families and the community. The HFA is hosting the program with support from the City of Hoboken; Ben & Jerry’s, Coca-Cola, the Hoboken Harriers Running Club, The Elks, WPLJ – 95.5 F

Alpha Phi Omega Theta Alpha is a national coeducational fraternity located at Stevens Institute of Technology. Every spring, the notional fraternity encourages chapters to participate in Spring Youth Service Day. The goal of this program is to engage campuses and communities in service to positively impact youth, as well as to instill in them the will to serve. For this project, our chapter has partnered with Milk and Bookies, a notional charitable organization that places donated books in the hands of children around the country to foster a sense of appreciation for education. With your help, a child in Hoboken will be given the book you chose and inscribed. For the first time, they will have their very own bedtime story. Milk + Bookies and Alpha Phi Omega want to help inspire a generation of givers and to motivate the entire community.
