DIY Woodworking Camp for Kids
"DIY Kids" is an enrichment program designed to teach the proper and safe use of hand tools and general woodworking skills to girls and boys between the ages of 9-16 years old. Through a series of lessons and projects, these young builders will gain the abilities and confidence to complete increasingly complicated projects as the program progresses. Students will learn new skills that will last a lifetime, while also using their creativity and imagination to put their own personal touch on projects. Giving a child the opportunity to develop confidence in their abilities to work with their hands is an experience that could help shape their future.
Summer Camp is a week-long immersion for kids between the ages of 9-16 years old. Along the way, students will gain critical woodworking skills including the use of hand and power tools, planing and finishing custom projects, joinery techniques, and more. Students will create a mix of fun and practical projects like kinetic sculptures, chairs, outdoor games, and golf courses. Each day, campers will put their projects to the test during outdoor breaks in the park. Summer camp is lead by Christopher Murphy, a grade-school woodworking teacher with 10 years experience, and Priscilla Van Houten, founder and owner of The DIY Joint®.
